Tooth Extraction

Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth, or in preparation for orthodontic treatment.

When teeth are decayed, infected or broken, the affected individual may suffer mild to severe symptoms of pain in the mouth and face. A persistent toothache may prompt a patient to request tooth extraction. Healthy impacted wisdom teeth may also suddenly present complications requiring wisdom tooth extraction.
